Shot of the Day #4

This was taken on the rocks at Mooloolaba, Queensland. I was experimenting with long exposures to create a dreamy effect with the crashing waves, however the photograph is lacking warmth and unfortunately in Mooloolaba the Sun sets in the opposite direction to the open seas, so the lighting was very cool.

Blue Moon – Melbourne, Victoria

Just saw the Blue Moon rise over the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria.

“A blue moon is a thirteenth full moon in a year. Most years have twelve full moons which occur approximately monthly, but in addition to those twelve full lunar cycles, each solar calendar year contains an excess of roughly eleven days compared to the lunar year of 12 lunations.” [Read the full Wikipedia article]
