Shot of the Day #63

The sky in the Outback is always a rich deep blue and the sunsets are just as stunning – The black silhouettes of the harsh outback lands and a painterly mirage of clouds backlit by the falling Sun. There was a slight breeze while I was photographing the sunset and I had in mind that I would want to later lift the vibrant colours of the clouds in Camera Raw with an HDR effect, so instead of the three+ exposures I opted for raw. The screenshot below shows my adjustments in Camera Raw!

I attempted a ‘HDR’ like image in Photoshop’s Camera Raw and it turned out to be very handy in manipulating my photograph into a better quality image than I would have produced if I used Photomatix (in my opinion)! If you look closely at the screenshots of my before and after the level of noise is very minimal in the shadows in particular and I would have a massive amount of noise after processing a raw in Photomatix!

I have been experimenting with my Infrared Filter over the past few months and have finally produced some good results with it :P I was photographing in country Victoria with my IR-Filter and took this photograph of a Eucalyptus tree half alive and the other half dead, not an uncommon sight now due to the February Bushfires.

Experimenting with the Canon Macro 1:2.8 Lens and its amazing how crisp and clear the images are :P Unfortunately I was unable to get the DOF(Depth of Field) right in this shot, due to the hastiness of Bees:)
