This photo manipulation is called a stereographic projection, which takes a standard photograph and stretches it around in a circle creating a Globe or Planet like image!

The Red Centre – Outback, Northern Territory, Australia

At the end of last month I flew to Alice Springs and explored the surroundings of Central Australia over an extended weekend. It was an unbelievable trip and the experience of almost pure Outback was so unfamiliar/unique to me that I found it was amazing how Australia offers such a dynamic range of landscapes and culture from cities to the vast outback. I documented my trip visually as you’ll see as you scroll down – although some of these images are very revealing of Central Australia it is still nothing compared to being there, however with the use of panoramic photographs I hope it offers a better representation of the broad spacious lands that I experienced.

Experimenting with the Canon Macro 1:2.8 Lens and its amazing how crisp and clear the images are :P Unfortunately I was unable to get the DOF(Depth of Field) right in this shot, due to the hastiness of Bees:)

Shot of the Day #22

I was in the possession of an amazing camera over the weekend – the Canon 5D Mark II – I captured a few nice shots but didn’t get the chance to fully test it out in the short time I had it. I was using a Canon 70mm-200mm f/2.8 Telephoto Lens while taking these flowers and the DOF-Depth of Field combined with the lens length and aperture of ~2.8 was amazingly small which made great macro shots.

This photo isn’t anything too fancy, however I really like this photograph because I managed to get a clear sharp focus on the insect and managed to capture the water droplets as well in the tiny depth of field :P ! I used my kit lens, 18mm-75mm, so it wasn’t a special macro lens. The other factor in this photograph is the clarity achieved from such a large original ( however, reduced the quality for the web), which wouldn’t have been possibly with a low pixel count, whereas 14.2 mega-pixels does help a lot when cropping down!
