Shot of the Day #32

I have been kindly lent a macro lens – Canon Macro lens EFSĀ  60mm 1:2.8 USM – and it is amazing to shot with :) ! I’ve experimented with water-droplets and generally snapping at anything really close-up, here is a ‘Jumping-Spider’ super close-up with the macro lens and slightly cropped.

It is ANZAC Day here in Australia and there are services all over the country remembering the young service men and women of the past and present who fought for our freedom.

Digital Blending – Dynamic Range – GIMP

Notice: Undefined variable: read_more in /home/scottp12/public_html/wp-content/themes/traction/archive.php on line 34

When wanting to combine two or more photographs for a higher dynamic range (HDR) or correcting an overexposed photograph, I mostly use programs like Photomatix, however it is sometimes too difficult or frustrating fiddling with the settings for minutes getting nowhere. So, there is an easier way and in certain cases much better than an HDR especially if you want to avoid those really surreal photographs – Digital Blending is the way to go, you can be much more selective with your increases/decreases in dynamic range and get more realistic results.

Kuala Lumpur’s China Town is a hub for cheap electronics, DVDs and watches – also an interesting part of KL, the older parts of KL with the historic markets and The Cricket Club. I used a slow shutter speed to blur the moving cars – showing Kuala Lumpur’s bustling way of life.

Artie – Australian Photographer – Inspiration

Notice: Undefined variable: read_more in /home/scottp12/public_html/wp-content/themes/traction/archive.php on line 34

Artie’s HDR photography has been the best inspiration I’ve had for my photography! Artie’s photographs always have perfect clarity and his post-processing work flow reaps great success, especially with ‘noise’ a large factor in HDR processing that troubles even the best photographers, whereas Artie shows no problem with his stunning shots :)
