Just finished putting up the Christmas Lights and decided to do a little photography! An electrical Storm was scheduled for that night and sure enough it swept across in a south-easterly direction, missing my place, but I did get a glimpse of the lightning from where I was. Anyway, while happy snapping away I managed to capture one of the lightning bolts inside the HSV badge! It is a little blurry, but at least a nice desktop background for my computer! The HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) slogan is ‘I just want one!’, perfect for the dead space in the top-left frame.

I have been using GIMP for over two years now and really appreciated the many tutorials I had at hand for when I was starting out. Since the early days I have produced my own tutorials in an effort to give back to the open source community and so the purpose of this post is to share and acknowledge the hard work that people have put in into making these great tutorials of 2010!
The festive Season is well upon us and the celebrations are only a few short weeks away, so in preparation this tutorial will help motivate you for the Holidays and produce an elegant wallpaper!
